Little Norwich

Paul Lambert leads Norwich into their penultimate pre-season friendly tonight, as the canaries take on Lincoln City at Sincil Bank. It’s not hard to see where this connection between the two clubs was made. Lambert is a former Celtic teammate of the Lincoln manager, former city hero Chris Sutton. Sutton’s managerial apprenticeship began at Lincoln last September after he filled the vacancy left by Peter Jackson’s sacking. He did reasonably well in his first season, keeping the Imps in the football league and finishing 20th. At his disposal tonight he will have another former Norwich forward, once touted as “The new Chris Sutton” journeyman Drewe Broughton. Assuming he shakes off a knock he received playing against Celtic on Saturday.

Lambert will have a largely fit Norwich squad to choose from, skipper Grant Holt being the main absentee. His fitness is a worry as we head towards the season opener which is now only 9 days away, or 220 hours if that doesn’t excite you enough. Holt’s loss should be Simeon Jackson’s gain, as he is likely to get another start as he plays get fit catch up with the rest of the squad.
